Concerned about 21 month old pups eye!!!
While training today, I noticed what looks like a cataract in my pups left eye. I thought that it may be just the angle of the light. Then I got home and looked at both eyes with a low light flashlight, and the right eye is clear as a bell. The left has what seems to be a slightly foggy contact lens. The shape is very distinct. Any thoughts???

I wish you luck that it isn't. One guy I train with just found out that a littermate to his 8 month old is totally blind. I can't imagine how you would feel with them being so young.

My dog was diagnosed at 6 months with a cataract in his right eye he's 11 now and still can spot a fly all the way across the living room. Good Luck Dave I would get him to an ophthalmologist.

Possibly an ulcer caused by an abrasion? I've had that happen though the dog acted like it's eye was sore and bothering it. Hope it is one of those somethings that turn out to be nothing, good luck.

David, get that dog to a veterinary ophthalmologist for a diagnosis. The CERF web site shows there are several are in your area. I am certain that the doctor will answer all of your questions, outline all treatment options and provide you some peace of mind that our second guesses can not. Good luck to you and your pup.
It's so much easier to suggest solutions when you don't know too much about the problem.

It almost appears as though there is a scratch on the eye. It looks a little more foggy today. Yesterday is the first day that it has shown.

Agree with everyone on immediate attention. Keno had a superficial eye injury and the local vet treated it aggressively so it would not progress into something more. She had Trioptic ointment and Predinisone drops to prevent potential damage. She came through it fine--recerf'd last Wed. Ann
