Today, Senate Democrats in the Finance Committee rejected a Republican move to require that the full text of the Baucus government-controlled healthcare bill be posted for 72 hours prior to a vote.

Democrats are fast-tracking the bill through committee, insisting that Senators vote on the bill WITHOUT seeing the actual language of the legislation.

In fact, Democrats were making their point by mocking those who wanted to actually READ the bill before voting!

Sen. Kerry said, "Legislative language is relatively
arcane, very legalistic, and most people don't read the
legislative language."

I seem to remember many of our elected officials wiping egg off their faces for not reading the bail out bill. Ya know... when bail out $ was paid in the form of "performance based bonuses" to top executives of companies who were going belly up. How pompous for some in congress to suggest that a bill need not be clearly understood before voting. Especially a political hot potato like the health care bill. They must think the average American citizen has a very short memory or are simply ignorant. Sadly, they are probably correct on both counts.

Right. Because allowing the people who work in the industry and who would be affected by the legislation time to digest what Nancy and Harry want to ramrod through the skunkworks is just so damn crazy.

And let's not forget their extravagantly-paid staff that each of them has both for their own offices and on the committees they belong to....isn't that what they're supposed to do, read and explain things their bosses are voting on? Although anyone that worked in Washington knows the staff actually run the Hill

Why bother when our brain-dead senator has already agreed to vote in favor of ANY bill that is brought up for vote. Thune doesn't stand a chance of his vote counting.
