I think a few of the RTF members have had access to Dr. Lundy and his Atom Bob who in that erra had most of the Traveling Trophies.

From Dr. Lundy...
Bob did produce several good field trial dogs. Mr. August Belmont won the Eastern Derby championship with his A.F.C. Bomarc of South Bay. My "Big Fellow", the sire of Aleutian Surf Breaker and Nanuk, won several all-age points, a 2nd in a big open, but never a first. "Randy", a litter brother to Bomarc, won a field championship in Holland and was runnerup in one of their national trials. Bob's Aleutian Trojan won amateur and open points as did Aleutian Ranger.
Other licensed trial point winners included Bobcat's Aleutian Terror and the chocolate Kohi, a qualifying stake winner. Unknown to most Chesapeake people, Atom Bob also produce~ three Bench Champions:
...(1) Ch. Bensington Brown, C.D. won B.B. at Westminster and B.B. at the Chesapeake Specialty,
...(2) Ch. and A.F.C. Bomarc of South Bay, and
...(3) Ch. Aleutian Ranger.

If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.
(And to see just how confused I really am, join us in my online blind at: Rick's 2012-2013 season log)
My father and mother owned, trained and trialed two pups from a breeding of Atom Bob and Choppers Bobbie, KimKay Target and My Lady Coco. That was my introduction to field trial. I will never forget the incredible water entry Target had or the unbelievable blinds Coco could run. My father and his friend hired a pilot with a private plane to fly them to Idaho to pick their pups. This breeding repeated and produced Aleutian Surf Breaker I believe.
I remember the field trial game being much different back then.
Today's Chesapeakes owe a great deal to Atom Bob and John Lundy.
Nearly every FC and AFC CBR in the last 40-50 years can be traced to either Atom Bob or Nelgards Baron.
