Default U.S. most admired country globally: survey

This will make some right wing heads explode!

NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) – The United States is the most admired country globally thanks largely to the star power of President Barack Obama and his administration, according to a new poll.
It climbed from seventh place last year, ahead of France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Japan which completed the top five nations in the Nation Brand Index (NBI).
"What's really remarkable is that in all my years studying national reputation, I have never seen any country experience such a dramatic change in its standing as we see for the United States for 2009," said Simon Anholt, the founder of NBI, which measured the global image of 50 countries each year.

Out of touch, much? Most right wing heads don't give a crap if Luxemburgers, Greeks or dirt eaters in any other country think of us.

Do you teach your children that the most important thing is for them to be popular and well-liked? Probably not. But as a country that's what you want for us? Well, congrats! I guess.

So, now they admire us as we implode?

    Opinion polls mean what?

I could care less if they hate us and the U S dollar was strong, our intelligence agencies were functional and our resolve to defeat our enemies strong.

A bag full of 32x32 Levi jeans is still the exchange gold in most countries today. Funny, that's never reported on CNN.
Currency goes up and down, but Levi's will still buy you what you need when you get there.

    Miss that Black Passport.

Why would our heads explode, why would it matter. Honestly, this insatiable need to be liked by these second rate countries, by some, usually on the left, is just baffling.

Barack Hussein Obama, mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm might want to hold off on his Sally Field "you like me, you REALLY like me" victory lap at the UN. If we get any more admired by the Arabs, French, Chinese and Russians I'm afraid that Mexico is gonna have to build a fence to keep us from sneaking down there and stealing all their good jobs.

    The demise of the dollar

In a graphic illustration of the new world order, Arab states have launched secret moves with China, Russia and France to stop using the US currency for oil trading http://www.independent.co.uk/news/bu...r-1798175.html
Whew! At least they like us while they're screwing us. So we've got that going for us. Which is nice.

I'm sure this is a little tongue in cheek on your part but the comment begs the question, are we really a thoughtless bullying country? Or rather an exceptional country that when taken as a whole has done more good for more people then the combined total of those countries we seem so worried about offending.sometimes there is a fine line between being nice and being a doormat.

LMAO. ZINGER ALERT!!! ZINGER ALERT!!! That's some comedy gold....in France. But then they think Jerry Lewis is hilarious.

I'm no Larry David, but as a public service, if you PM me your witticisms before you publically post 'em I can work with you to try to take some of the cringe-factor out of them. It would help you, and maybe, just maybe, it will help me to become the type of American that Zeus would hopefully be proud of.

With the notable exception of our allies, like the Brits Aussies and Israelies to name some of the few, I don't give a damn what the rest of the world things of us. With Osama in the White House some of the nations that used to respect if not outright fear the US have swung around to admire us perhaps, but I would arther have their respect. Thank God the 2012 elections will remove the messiah from power and we can get back to the business of being the greatest nation in the world with a POTUS who does not think he needs to apologize to everyone.
