There is only one way to prevent the dollar from being replaced as the world's reserve currency over the next decade and that is to stop the rapid currency devaluation that has been going on for the last 8+ years. Among other things, this will require bringing our budget close to balance and dramatically reducing our trade deficit. Clinton helped a lot. Bush was a disaster and Obama is following in Bush's footsteps.

I am delighted that you realize that as well. However, the pace at which Obama is spending will make Bush's spending look frugel.

Along with the devaluation of the dollar, inflation will hit us harder than it ever has.

In terms of price of oil not being on the dollar, much of that has to do with the hostility the current administration has towards energy producers. If it continues, none of the major oil companies nor the business that support them will be located in the USA. Dubai is luring major oilfield construction companies and exploration companies from the USA to Dubai.

My biggest complaint with Bush was his allowing the devalue of the US $ to support the Euro when it was struggling.
It has never fully recovered.

Devalue of the dollar isn't always bad. It may mean that we will start exporting more than we import, and jobs will start moving back to the USA since shipping costs, and buying international will cost more now. I am already seeing some of this with my vendors.

Also, we are probably moving towards a global currency which will cut out the money exchangers making commisions on converting one currency to another.

We are in a global economy now, and there will be flux, winners, and losers.

This is your third or fourth post recently where you advocate killing people to solve problems.

Those people that wait until they get up to the register before looking at the menu for 5 minutes at McDonalds really annoy me. Do you have any suggestions? Oh, and those old men that drive down the road with their turn siganal on? Are they fair game?
