Does anyone know if it is possible to switch the safety on a remington 11-87 from right-hand to left-hand operation?
I don't think so. They have different part numbers for a L/H and R/H trigger plate assemblies.
You could on the 1100 but not the 1187. I put the stock safety back on my 1100 when I sold it to put the LH in the 1187... Couldn't do it![]()
It's not in the Color........it's in the Character
yes you can convert 1187 to left handed safety. Just call Remington.
I had it done about 10 yrs ago.

I think it can be done, but must be done by a gunsmith. Call Ahlmann's in Morristown, MN. they have a website and usually answer questions promptly.

In case anyone else ever has this same question, I called Remington and found out the answer:
You can switch the safety in a model 11-87 from right hand to left hand. There is an after-market kit that allows this to be done. Remington recommended contacting Brownell's at 800-741-0015 to order the appropriate part.
Thanks to everyone who replied.
