    Question Cannot remember .....

Currently having a brain fart ... trying to remember the condition / disease that is attributed to a fungus (?) in the soil. Tried to locate using the search function, but without being able to remember the correct name ............................

    Thanks!

Hopefully you were just curious and NOT looking to get info. because you or your dog has it.

    Sue,
';pI was trying to remember the cause .... I could remember that the primary concern was turned or disturbed earth, but not that it was in damp or swampy areas.

Thank you for your concern, but all is well here.

Remember also that it is the spores that are carried by the wind that can end up in the lungs of you or doggy when you are NOT in the area of the damp soils.
Have seen "Blasto." affect different dogs different ways from lungs to sores that don't heal..........
Many Vets. don't recognize the symptoms or know enough about the disease sometimes until too late...
    No offense to any Vets.!!!!!!!!!!!
    Like I said HATE it...............
Glad you and all are OK.

I have my fingers crossed here. I have a dog who has some of the symptoms, she is going back in for a recheck on saturday. The thing that caught my attention was how the symptoms seem to go away and return. She has been doing good then back down hill. loss of appetite, vomiting, head hung low like she is depressed, breathing noises... after seeing this I am a little concerned. I do live in a wet area, the dogs have been digging quite a bit lately and chewing on some logs that have some stuff growing on them... Like I said fingers crossed and hoping that this time she doesn't go down hill again.... I have had enough sleepless nights for this week... Jim

    Jim,
Have you had an xray done of her lungs or had the opthamologist look in her eyes? Seems like I was thinking it was not very common in females. My old male got blasto when he was 1 yo. Optho. recognized it, none of the other tests came back positive. Good luck and hope she feels better soon.

I will be looking into the lungs and eyes this sat. when we go back to vet. She seems to be feeling better but she has been on a rollercoaster ride, seems better then not so good. right now she seems to be doing well. Hopefully she will continue doing well. She is an older girl to be 10 in Dec. I had a friend lose a female to blasto north of me a few years back.. Thanks Jim

They now have a very accurate urine test available for blasto that is right on..... my vet told me this yesterday. If your vet does not know about it, I can put you in touch him my vet for the info.
