I have so enjoyed the banter and the dialogue on this thread.

I just wish we could have all these discussions around the campfire with adult beveridge in hand. I firmly believe that most of us have a lot more in common than we think we do.

I leave tomorrow, for a short training module and then back into the breach for the 5th time. Hopefully, this is my last deployment....I'm simply getting too old for this crap. It's a young mans game these days....and my goal is to keep as many of these courageous young men as safe as possible while sticking it to the Taliban/Al Queda.

I believe in leading from the front.....so keep me in your prayers....that I would have clarity of judgement and not lack for decisiveness when the going gets tough.

I'll try and stick my nose in here in the coming months....you all take care. I'll be with the 10th Mtn Division.

Words do not and can not describe the gratitude I have for you and the men and women like you that put it on the line for us back here. I have faith that you will do as you say, and keep your troops safe in the face of danger and prevail when faced with evil.

I don't know if you are a person of faith, but I believe, I want you to know I will keep you in my thoughts and prayer's. If there is anything I can do please let me know, I will be looking forward to seeing you "pop" in on the boards when you can....

If you should find yourself in a tough spot for what ever reason remember this, it has helped me many times....

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach
with the Lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.

For each scene,
he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand.
One belonged to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed
that many times along the path of his life,
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened
at the very lowest
and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him
and he questioned the Lord about it.

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during
the most troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you the most
you would leave me."

The Lord replied,
"My precious, precious child,
I love you and would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then I carried you."

Thank you for your service. Safe tour to you and your soldiers. Regardless of political differences, RTF'ers will ALWAYS support the members of our armed services.
