    Default Golden History circa 1960

L-R-Macopin Expectation (Spec), Macopin Maximum (Maxy), and Harbor City Shadrack

The first two were littermates and the third was also owned by the Murnane's Macopin Kennels.

Some people that knew Joe Schomer said that he accomplished with the golden littermates as he did with the Spirit Lake Littermates. The Spirit Lake littermates were purchased as started dogs while the goldens were raised from puppies on. The Spirit Lake litter contained Duke the 1957 and 1959 National winner.

I have two CD's of photos from Tom Schomer son of Joe Schomer. Joe trained for Murnane's from about 1953-1963 and after leaving Long Island Joe had a kennel for training in Texas. Besides winning two Nationals with Spirit Lake Duke he had about 24 dogs of the Murnane's qualified for the National during this span.

    Richard:

Do you have any info on when Spec and Harbor City Shadrack died.

    Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for posting these Richard. I had to look twice at Harbor City Shadrack. He looks very much like my old dog Kate.

Did anyone (where's Glenda?? ) ever answer the question as to the origin of the Tigathoe kennel name?

I had the opportunity to meet Joe Schomer when he was in Texas and I was was new to the FT game, a friend of the family Thomas Martin had a National finalist with Joe: FC Remhocs Lejo Juderi..Remhocs was Schomer spelled backwards and Lejo was for Lee and Joe Schomer, Juderi was an acronym for members of Tom's family..

Mr Schomer was one heck of a dog trainer, and well respected among his peers and clients, which is why I had him on my Hall of Fame ballot this year
