    Default RNC tactics

RNC document caricatures Obama, appeals to fear

    By JIM KUHNHENN
    Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Barack Obama is "The Joker." Nancy Pelosi is portrayed as Cruella De Vil, and Harry Reid as Scooby Doo - all part of a Republican Party pitch to top fundraisers.

Tucked into the 72-page Power Point presentation to GOP fundraisers in Boca Raton, Fla., last month, was a direct call to exploit "extreme negative feelings" toward Democrats using tactics that even Republican leaders said were out of line.

"What can you sell when you do not have the White House, the House or the Senate...?" one slide asks.

"Save the country from tending toward Socialism!" it replies.

Political groups and parties often use highly charged language to motivate their base of voters and contributors. But the RNC document is unusual in revealing a strategy in such candid detail.

Republicans tried Thursday to disassociate themselves from the imagery and language of the presentation, which was first reported by the Politico news Web site.

Hmmm...so bad that republicans are running away from this one!

This guy's "looking like a fool with his pants on the ground!"

This represents a very bad trajectory in American politics, that ill-serves a democracy.

    From the RNC presentation

and clearly they know what motivates their audience.

"true believers", "fear", "extreme negative feeling", "ego". You gotta love it. Funny, no mention of "ideas" or "good policy".

Yep, that's pretty daggone sad. What I think is more sad, however, is that in order to reach and influence the majority of voters in our country, you have to play on these emotions. I firmly believe that the average voter is not educated enough about the important issues to make a decision based on them. It is evident every time I get some BS email about Obama is doing this or that and it spreads like wildfire. 9 times out of 10, I will check snopes or do a little research and very little of the email is based in fact, but those who blindly forward it to eveyone in their contact list don't GARA about the truth.

Basically, I think that the majority of American voters are not _________ (insert educated, informed, intelligent, concerned, etc) enough to move beyond voting based on emotions.

Seems like this is mostly about how the RNC is approaching their constituents and funders. Perhaps you are missing this point?

    Hi Roger,
Oops! You guys have associated bringing up the past with Roger so much, and pointing out how pathetic that is, I just got you confused!

Oh, I foget the hyprocisy. It O0000-KKKKKKK when it suits YOUR needs to bring up the past, just not anyone else is allowed to!

thank you for reminding me of that. Oh, I almost forget to mention that your hypocritical counterattack did NOTHING to address the tactics of the RNC, that even its OWN members are running from!

Next time, try a little salt with the crow. It helps it go down easier.

So what is not true about that statement?

Hmmm...so bad that republicans are running away from this one!
There are few who have the R by their name on the ballot who represent their constituents . As that statement may be a little deep for you Doc, that means those running away are probably RINO's & need repalacing.
