I just saw in our paper's obitz, MajGen. Robert M. White "slipped the surly bonds of earth" and passed away at 85. You may remember reading about him years ago as he flew the X-15 over 300,000 feet to test manned space flight at over 4000 mph at Edwards. He was the ultimate test pilot, along with Chuck Yeager and Scott Crossfield. Another piece of the Greatest Generation has left us.
Godspeed, good sir!
