    Bad choice...

Jimmy Bruno is a fine guitarist. It's Jazz, it's clean, fast and accurate. No hiding behind any distortion or effects. Maybe not everybodies cup of tea, but quite a lot of skill.

i was lucky enough to know him in person. worked security for a club where he got started, he was on the threshold of stardom and would do shows there a few times a year for $5 a person, place only held about 400. after hours partook in a few libations with him and his wife before he went clean. he really was a great person, never met a stranger, and never got a big head by any stretch of the imagination. always heard how he would sign autographs for anyone and everyone with a smile yet his autographs still bring top dollar. i was just too close to ever ask for one, felt wierd. too bad.

i remember one show with "the muddy waters band" sans muddy waters of course. srv was there as a regular listener, but afterwards i snuck down a bottle of hennessy for the "boys" in the band - Pinetop Perkins being the main story teller. it was a treat to sit in as a fly on the wall as stevie ray asked them questions and listened to their stories like a little league kid meeting the '62 yankees.

that was the last time i saw him.
