    Default imagine

    Imagine there's no Heaven
    It's easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
    Imagine all the people
    Living for today

    Imagine there's no countries
    It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

    Imagine no possessions
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

    happy birthday John

Funny Ken, Ralph posted the first verse and ended with "Thanks John", on Facebook. The only reason he did not post the whole song, was we were at a roadside pull off on the way from Salt Lake to Taos, NM. He did not have time. What a great song, and I wish more folks would listen to it today!

Heard Yoko on the radio and she said if John were still alive, he'd probably still be writing music and "be very big on the Internet". Somehow that doesn't surprise me.

One of the greatest songs ever written, no doubt. Amazing that someone who smokes MJ could get out of bed and actually do something great?

Maybe its not so destructive afterall?

    RIP, John and George

I love John, and hate the way he was taken from us. But I'm not sure I would use John and Yoko as exhibits in a discussion of the benign side of drugs. Their apartment in NYC was the site of some pretty major drug deals for a lot of drugs other than MJ. These were not limited to purchases for personal use. That was where a number of dealers -- including one I knew -- got their supplies, whether or not John and Yoko were involved.

I read the lyrics from that song and remember liking it when I was a young man. Now, with the reality of a lifetime of experience behind me, it appears he is describing the "Eloi" from the movie "The Time Machine."

Personally, I never was a huge Beetles fan. Even less after their various solo careers. George Harrison was the only one I ever bought a disc of, and that was with the Traveling Wilburys.

Imagine and Yesterday are two of the greatest songs recorded, and thankfully, their manager had the sense to recognize "Yesterday" as a hit, and made him change the lyrics from some goofy comedy to the song we all know today. The musical score was almost wasted!

Other than those two songs, I can take them or leave them.

Dave, you we're not probably not old enough to appreciate them.

Maybe not, but I'm old enough to appreciate Elvis, Simon &G, Jackie Gleason (comedian and band director) and Zeppelin, Amboy Dukes.....

I think I just don't care for the Beetles. (and I think McCartney's superbowl halftime show was the WORST, most boring, EVER)
