I am listening to the early Beatles (With The Beatles) right now. I have all their stuff. Thier early stuff is all I find myself playing.

well that is it right there....

Elvis was the biggie when I was in high school, Beetles when I was in college (3 yrs in military between H.S. and College). Liked them both, among others--Simon & Garfunkel included! But still country/western (old-time, Cash, Jennings, etc. not so much current) my favorite music.
I can take a joke, and responded with another. Jeez!
Didn't you find it funny that they came in between Alanis and Sat. Nite fever? Even Meatloaf had a better selling album??? Shows how goofy the album sales can be. Different times too. Elvis wasn't even on the list, as far as I checked.
Any guess as to what country singer made the top 25? (the only one)

pretty rare that i play the spelling card, but that tells me a lot.
"other than those two songs, I can take them or leave them"
interesting, "Imagine" was after he was in his solo career. not a Beatles song.
"Yesterday" is the most recorded song ever, if i recall - or at least it was at one point. no argument there.
but to write off the rest of their collective work as mediocre is amazing. i have truly never known anyone like you. even my curmudgeon dad of 84 who hated the mopheads in their day now recognizes their collective genius.....
as far as "Imagine" - who, i mean really WHO in the entire world could have done a better job than Neil Young singing that song just 10 days after 9/11? a man with his own incredible lifetime body of legendary musical achievements chose to sing a song written by someone else. a selfless act executed flawlessly.
but i digress...![]()
How does my saying "I can take them or leave them" or "I just don't care for them" mutate into my saying "their collective work is mediocre"?
Are we not allowed to have our own personal tastes in music around you?
They are without a doubt, one of the most influential, greatest groups in the history of human entertainment.....I just don't care for most of thier stuff. I apologize if I've violated one of Gibson's edicts.
