Kenny Stabler is currently doing the Color Analysis job for the U of Bama Crimson Tide. He also owns a bar down in Gulf Shores, Al.

I was at a Saints' game when he was the QB of the Saints in 1983. We were playing the Bears in the dome. Walter Payton threw two TD passes to Willie Gault to tie the game at the end of regulation play at 35 to 35. Jim McMahon was thier rookie QB. Game ended in OT with a Morten Anderson FG.

Stabler was over-the-hill then but, Bum loved his guts. It was the beginning of the end for Bum as he traded Archie to the Oilers to bring in Stabler from the Raiders.

And now I hear Bum has an out-of-work son!

I think Stabler came from a brief stint with the Oilers, between Oakland and NO. I know Dave Caspar and he would connect like old times and pose a threat for a while in Houston, but they were both a little too old at that time.

I had no idea that Archie went to Houston. He must have been after Stabler and before Moon. Or a few others.

Archie was trade to the Oilers for OL Leon Grey. After two seasons with the Oilers, he finished his career with the Vikings. A sad use of awesome talent. I think he was better than Eli but not as good as Peyton. He was the NFL league MVP in 1979 on a Saints team that went 8 -8. Bear Bryant said of Archie that he was the best college QB he ever played against. Archie could run and throw and played the position with a lot of intelligence. As bad as the Saints team was back then, I'd say he was lucky to be able to sire children.

    Yeah????

I'll tell you how he comes back:

Childress gets fired, Gruden gets hired and asks him back!!!

I predict this will happen, to all of our chagrin.

I like Gruden. Old fashioned, yes, But all football!

I like his comments with Jaws about the leading helmet hits. D-back aims for numbers, carrier lowers his head at last minute, viola--head to head, and the d-back gets a 5-figure (or 6) fine??!! Its BS.
