I'm confused. On numerious occasions you've both gotten apoplectic that Obama or some other noob in his admin. was labeled a socialist. Now you're both yucking it up over Larry O'Donnell's statement that he's a socialist, Obama's a socialist and that we're all socialists. So who's right...the old you's or the new you's? And if it's the new you's, does that mean you're going to go back to all your previous posts where you argued that Obama wasn't a socialist and apologize. I really wish you liberals, progressives and/or socialists would all decide what the rest of us can call you so that your self-esteem won't be damaged.

I'd say that someone who believes in a basically market driven economy and in a system in which financial rewards are based largely on success in the market place does not make for a very good socialist. I know of hardly anyone who would meet a Marxian definition of socialism.

However, if belief in and support of policies that involve some degree of income transfer or differential assignment of the costs of supporting government activities is your standard for defining a socialist, then I don't know of any successful political leaders who are not "socialist".

Payment for medical services has been largely socialized in America since the 1930's. Financing for retirement has been largely socialized for just as long. Support for the protection of intellectual property rights has been socialized since the beginnings of our country. Responsibility for real property protection and basic education have been socialized since the early 19th century. "Socialism" has always been a matter of degree. I, too, am waiting for the tea party events that will be highlighted with the burning of Medicare cards and social security checks.

It is Larry O'Donnell claiming that certain elements of our economy/society are socialistic therefore we must all be socialists.

But Larry O'Donnell doesn't in that video. I, too, am waiting for the tea party events that will be highlighted with the burning of Medicare cards and social security checks. That's a nonsensical argument. Those folks aren't any more hypocritical than someone who's against the wars in Iraq and A-stan yet still pays taxes to support them.
