They were probably paying Don Hudson $162.50 per game and $40 a week for living expenses.
But, did they beat the Brooklyn Tigers that season?
What was the price of gasoline back then, 3 cents a gallon? Pack of the player's favorite smokes was probably a nickle!
Where do we go without great leaders for the defense of our liberties? Who will defend our right to live our lives _as we chose_ without others taking that from us? The answer is, as it should be, no one. We are the defense of our rights and should always remember that. Libertarian blogger
And there weren't rules against hitting too hard.
God Bless PFC Jamie Harkness. The US Army's newest PFC, but still our neighbor's little girl!

I've been saying that for over a year. Its the padding that protects from deceleration injury. The hard shell just protects the padding. On a turf or grass field, there is no reason for the weaponized hard-shell. skidding on asphalt, yes. Football field, NO.
I suppose if you get your head stepped on, the hard shell would help, but oh well, its a rough game.
