I'm not sure I agree, I believe the real fans would make it to the game. But they wouldn't be spending. IMO the reschedule was all about emptying the fans pockets, it's not inexpensive to attend any pro sports contest, nor is it inexpensive to put one on .

One of the more memorable snow contests was MI-OSU for the Big 10 title. Players played both ways in a blinding snowstorm, eventually won by ? 3-0, sometime in the late 40's. Lynn Chappius for MI & I think Vic Janowicz for OSU. One of those two kicked A FG late.

i dont know the total actual snowfall for philly - was it 8"? if so and they had that forecast, its one thing. but the magnitude of this storm caught a lot of people off guard. what if they got 24+ inches like some areas? people would be stuck all over and no way to help them all. what if people died from just trying to get to the game? just look how bad some areas were, who wants to be responsible for that? with a last minute forecast of massive blizzards there is no way to always predict exactly where it will be the worst.

quit complaining - this way we get football on tuesday night!

You are missing a few things about the NFL and fans today.

First of all, fans around the country do not want to watch a game that is determined by poor weather. TV pays the NFL billions for the rights to broadcast games and the NFL owes it to deliver a better product. Ratings and interest in the Rust Belt teams is way down!

Just look at which game was the highest rated Monday Night game this season, two dome teams!

In regards to not being able to get to the stadium, that is an excuse. Police escorted buses could get them to the game.

There has never been a game canceled at Lambeau.
And there have been a few there.

Snow, ICE, frigid temps, football is a game made to be played outdoors on GRASS!!

Once again, the NFL was not invented last year!!!!

Of course, what do I know.

It is not a matter of when the NFL was invented.

It is a matter of what the fans want. Except for a few older die-hards (this is the way we did it 40 years ago), fans across the country are not wanting to watch games that are over-shadowed by weather conditions.

That is why less games are being televised nationally of open-aired stadium teams.

The NFL is a buisness built on fan interest/TV ratings. That is why the NFL is just beginning to address this issue. Except for Jacksoville, expansion will not happen but instead teams over the years will be moved to where they can make more money and that means state-of-the-art stadiums.

gee, the NFL must really hate the idea of the Patriots hosting a PLAYOFF game, then.

maybe the fans in the sweat belt love their domes, but the fans here in New England are quite happy when the weather is crappy!

wonder what the ratings will be for for the playoff game at gillette next month? probably dismal. i can just see football fans nationwide not watching that one.................-Paul

Ditto...and I am not an 'older' diehard fan, Franco.

Personally, I love to watch a game played in inclement weather. It's kinda like watching a UFC fight when it gets really ugly and bloody. It makes it more interesting and amazing to see what these guys can push through and deal with and still perform at the high level that they do.

    BTW,
Loved how the Vikings beat the Beagles!!!! After the way they crushed my Giants earlier.
Guess praise for Vick from the commander in chief don’t carry much weight on the field of play.
Ha Ha no bye week for them!
And that Webb Kid is aright! If they had played him more instead of the feeble Wrangler Jeans Spokesman, this season may have been different for them. Always next year right RK?

Those Patriot vs Colt AFC Championship games of the last decade(3 games) were some of the lowest viewed NFL playoff games of the decade!
Even the Steelers with thier two SB's last decade didn't have playoff ratings worth mentioning.

The exception was the Packers vs Giants NFC Championship game in 08.
