Next week, the U.S. House of Representatives will be voting on an historic repeal of the Obamacare law. While there are many reasons to oppose this flawed government health insurance law, it is important to remember that Obamacare is also one of the largest tax increases in American history. Below is a comprehensive list of the two dozen new or higher taxes that pay for Obamcare’s expansion of government spending and interference between doctors and patients.

Our American healthcare system needs reform. Many, including myself, were not happy with the end result of the last congressional attempt to reform it. Simply repealing the reform is not an answer. It is simply more politics as usual for Washington. More grandstanding and showboating. The new congress should either leave it alone or change it. Make it better. Keep what is good in it, and change what isn't.

The whole thing needs to be trashed. Start over from ground zero. You can't fix something that " pass it and then you will find out what is in it".
All I see is my rates going up. Nothing in the bill means anything but rate increases for my family.

Having had a 6 way bypass & a RC surgery while on Medicare maybe you could enlighten the audience about what is wrong. The system was working quite well, but could have used some tweaks, which could have been done without the fanfare.

BTW - usually people on this forum are courteous enough to show where they are from so others can see just what level of nut they are dealing with. snc being from IL receives some slack for his lack of reasoning power. Hope he enjoys the tax hike .

The ONLY reform that can be AFFORDED by this nation, will never please the something for nothing crowd. Time to start realizing there are no longer ANY FREE BENNIES.

How ignorant must people be to watch these government run systems in a slew of nations...in other words, socialism...failing because it is bankrupting those countries, yet their pampered idiots they've educated to be completely dependant, know only how to protest and riot. When you have succeeded in running off the producers, and only the 'takers' are left to wail and moan how badly they are being treated, how stupid must you be to not realize there is no longer any free lunches. You have killed the golden goose. Atlas has shrugged. And you have only your other losers to rely on. Good luck in finding solace with the words of Obama then.

First of all, we don't have "crap to start with". With have an excellent healthcare system. We do have two main problems. Cost and distribution.

I guess if we are going back to square one, we should also repeal Medicare. Then everyone is off public healthcare and we can all start over from scratch.

Claims that Obamacare will reduce the deficit, expand it, or is a job-killer amount to silly, over-the-top, hypocritical political rhetoric. An analysis of Republican and Democratic assertions about repeal of the measure concluded that both sides are playing fast and loose with the facts, The Washington Post said.

House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio (pictured), has attacked Congressional Budget Office estimates of cost savings as “their opinion,” while Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., asserted that repealing the measure would cost the government $1.2 trillion, the Post said.

“By the CBO's math, the bill does reduce the deficit--and that repealing the bill would increase the deficit. Some of Boehner's assertions have a basis in fact, but you can't dismiss the umpire in the middle of the game when you don't like the calls he makes,” the Post said. “Meanwhile, many Democrats are playing their own games with the numbers. Weiner's statement is typical--he takes a very hazy forecast 20 years down the road and treats it as the gospel truth.”

In its nearly 1,700 word analysis, the Post admits the issue is complicated and the “focus on the numbers silly.” However, the independent CBO concluded that the bill would reduce the deficit by $143 billion in the first ten years. “The CBO has a respectable track record, but CBO's numbers are based on models, and models can be flawed,” the Post said.

While noting the figure looks “pretty shaky, if not fictitious,” the Post said that CBO experts concluded the law would reduce the number of uninsured and slow the growth of federal budget health care costs. Nonetheless, Weiner’s claim repealing the measure would cost $1.2 trillion is “misleading” and “absurd.”

The Post awarded each side three Pinocchios, named for the character popularized by Disney whose nose grows longer with each lie, for “significant factual error and/or obvious contradictions,” one step away from its worst designation of four Pinocchios defined as “whoppers.”
