so looking to switch to Enhance, specifically Hunter's Edge Basics and Hunter's Edge Premium. Price is inline with what I'm paying, acutally the Basics is a little cheaper. One of my dogs can have some ear issues, nothing real bad, just have to stay on top of it, so I would consider the Premium to see if the no corn/wheat/soy has an effect on this issue, otherwise the Basics would likley work fine. Protein/fat is inline with current feed, seems to be a good ratio for my dogs and their work level.
Kevin, have you used the new Endurance? Reason I ask is I switched to it after feeding VF Active Adult becuase it was easier to get. I have had the same results, very good.
My boy did great on Enhance Hunters Edge and Pro Athlete.
Unfortunately I can't get it anymore since the change in ownership.
It's good food, I wish I could still get it.
But I add my comments about Enhance. Love it. Hunters Edge for maintaining and Pro Athlete when the dogs are working hard (hunting). Super dense stuff, stools are always solid, coats are super shiny, no grain (one BLF's ear allergies just went away), quality ingrediants. I used PP and Euk for more years than I can remember and will drive the extra miles to find an Enhance supplier.
Thanks all for your replies. My wholesaler is dropping my current feed, Black Gold, we feed the Field Trial blend; my dogs have done very well with it during the 5 years we've fed it. The wholesaler is going with Enhance, so I'm going to have to switch, so I appreciate the feed back.
Pro Athlete was tough for us to get the amount of food to feed figured out. Probably should have fed 3 cups or less for working dogs. I will say we feed half the amount of Enhance Endurance (2 cups) than what we fed for Pro Plan Performance (3.5-5 cups). Enhance may cost more per bag but actual feeding cost has dropped for us.
Get the Pro Athlete OP. I've fed or tried to mix in the Edge and Endurance as the Athlete is so hot but you go through a lot more food and more stools. 3 cups for one dog, 2 cups for the other dog - a day at my house. Fed PP for 8-years and like Mike we feed a lot less of the Athlete with better results.
For those of you feeding Enhance Performance/Professional Athlete, without citing internet pricing, what are you paying at your local feed suppliers for a 40lb. bag?
