Huckabee slams Natalie Portman for "Child out of Wedlock"

Mike Huckabee was not celebrating for Natalie Portman as she accepted her Best Actress Oscar on Sunday night -- he was passing moral judgments.
During her speech, Portman thanked "Black Swan" co-star turned fiance Benjamin Millepied for "the most wonderful gift," -- their baby, due later this year. Huckabee took issue with that statement, and the entire premise of her pregnancy, in an interview with conservative radio host Michael Medved on Monday.
After a set up from Medved saying that most wonderful gift should have been "a wedding ring," Huckabee slammed the star actress -- and then all single mothers.

However this is what he said about Bristol Palin when she had a child out of wedlock:

“It ought to be a reminder that here is a family that loves one another. They stuck with each other though the tough times and that’s what families do." ... Huckabee said the surprise pregnancy announcement should not affect vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s support in the conservative and religious right communities. ... “I’m grateful for the way she’s being supported by her family."

He's just trying to solidify the conservative base under his feet for the upcoming primary and Iowa/NH caucuses.

Those kind of social plays will only hurt him in the general election, but Huckabee may be thinking he won't get to see the general election if he doesn't get his base in gear...and soon. Romney seems to be taking the poll position for this race.

Nonetheless, that was a nice double standard in juxtaposition, Rog.

Holy Moly, Lee...you mean to say you are taking on that entire "We can smell hypocrisy in the conservative party a mile away" triumverate? Do you realize what that means? And finding something truthful will only get you reviled by that threesome. After all, they forgot more than any conservative will ever know.

And furthermore, they and their beloved messianic followers have absolutely NO hypocrites in their crowd. They are all perfect, and if you don't believe them, just ask any of them.
