The New York based Islamic Thinkers Society is organizing a huge protest this week in Washington D.C. to support Sharia law in the U.S. and restoration of the Islamic Caliphate. Their web site states: “Our objective is to resume the Islamic way of life to which will fulfill the purpose of the aim. Our objective is to bring back the apparatus that was destroyed in 1924 i.e. Khilafah (Caliphate)”

Islamist rally calling for Sharia law in U.S. must go forward

If the event does take place, American citizens will have the opportunity to see something that the media has largely kept hidden – that there is a segment of the American population that wants to subjugate our society under Islamic law. That is not to say that all American Muslims prefer Sharia by default – the group has to import speakers from Britain. The event itself may be appalling, but it provides Americans the perfect opportunity to learn the facts about Sharia and begin a national discussion as to whether Sharia is permissible in our society. If Americans can hear for themselves the words of those calling for an Islamic state in our country, rather than the secondhand soft-soaping we are likely to get from the New York Times or MSNBC, that will have a far greater impact.

What a better way to show the strength of the Constitution than to allow those who would destroy it to air their views, eh?

The issue of Sheria Law being incorporated into The Constitution will be debated until a definite resolution. This shouldn't even be an issue except that those that are pushing it see an opportunity within our government.

The USA should adobt the same bill that the citizens of Oklahoma passed a few months back, banning of Sheria Law within the state.

Seems simple to me and sends a clear message.

sharia law in the US is just an extreme version of political correctness on steroids. I am so tired of, the press 1 for english, press 2 for spanish...I work in the restaurant business , but there is nothing more rude than fellow employees speaking their "native" language while at work...This is the USA, if you aren't proud enough to speak ENGLISH, then GET OUT..my folks did our family a great service, they knew for us to be accepted in the community that we speak english, and speak it well..they never encouraged any of us kids to speak tagalog,because as my dad would say " we are Americans who happen to be of Filipino descent, not the other way around"

I grow weary when people ask, where are you from, whats your heritage...and I proudly say, I'm from Texas or I was raised and educated in Southern Calif..people are always expecting some Asian country

My whole MIL family speaks tagalog, (not publically, justin their homes) and I'll tell ya....everytime I overhear her on the phone with her relatives in Cebu City, I run in expecting to have to perform a Heimlich! I've never heard a more bizarre language! I'm all for preservation of heritage and culture, but IN THE HOME and at FESTIVALS.....not where I work.

I do have to say that I find the timing of this rally "an item of concern", in view of world events and as possibly viewed by those like Louis Farrakhan. Apparently in his speech at the NOI's () "Saviors's Day" event this past weekend, he spoke of "for those that love war over peace and injustice over justice..., this is the day of your doom, the end of your world..." "What you are looking at in Tunisia, Egypt,.. and Libya, coming soon to the rest of the world, and even sooner to take place in America..." "You'd better prepare because it is coming to your door" and basically warned Obama "You better heed your instructions for the rest of world & the Egyptians, ... and be reminded when it comes to your door ”

And hundreds (at least) of Americans are cheering this on, right here in Rosemont, Il. So whether or not you or I believe it, these people apparently do and evidently want it to happen.
Now I'm NOT saying that all of these, or even any of them in the audience, are terrorists.
But, imo, this is not just "Louis the Lip"'s normal bombastic Islamist diatribe, this sounds like a call to action.

I'm all for preservation of heritage and culture, but IN THE HOME and at FESTIVALS.....not where I work.

Really agree with this, too.

I don't think it's a bad thing to preserve a language facility with one's ancestral origins. Do we remember how the Native Americans helped with communications during WW II? It was the "code" that the enemy could NOT break. Was it helpful, as well, to have Americans who could speak German, Italian or Japanese during that time? What about the dearth of interpreters for the current unrest in the Middle East?

Mostly we Americans depend on other countries to speak English. I think there is some responsibility on us to encourage knowledge of other languages as well.

This does NOT mean that we should become a multi-lingual country in our laws. I've heard many complain of the issues this creates in Canada where French & English are both "official" languages. Not what we need here! OTOH, there are many good reasons for individuals to be multi-lingual ... for international commerce and our own self-interest in the world today. Even in private sector dealings, if we have to depend on an interpreter for our dealings, how do we know that our thoughts are being conveyed correctly?

A friend's son is a successful attorney bi-lingual in English/Russian! Makes some good bucks! Learning Russian for him (of Anglo-Saxon ancestry) was sort of a "lark", but it turned out to be a very valuable skill. Imagine the same is true for Chinese today.

In fact, the whole idea of the US being a melting pot is one of its greatest strengths. It's existence is living proof that many and varied cultures can co-exist to the benefit of all.

I'm from Alberta so I don't usually comment on politics in the U.S.A. as it's non of my business. This is a - just to let you know post - Ontario was going to allow Sharia Law to be imposed on their population. At the last minute it didn't happen because Sharia Law treats women like 3rd or 4th class citizens and the women rights people stood up and said no way! The lefty politicians backed away and are now hiding under the lily pads waiting for the next time to try and damage my country.

You would think that the strong women's right movement in the US would be all over this.
