    That's absolutly not true!

    New Orleans has some awesome neighborhoods outside of the tourist areas. The problem areas are the areas that are 99% Democrats.
    Where do we go without great leaders for the defense of our liberties? Who will defend our right to live our lives _as we chose_ without others taking that from us? The answer is, as it should be, no one. We are the defense of our rights and should always remember that. Libertarian blogger

    You are right. I shouldn't have said tourist areas, wrong word. There are a lot of very nice neighborhoods in NO. I should have said the nice sections. You have to admit though the bad sections are really really bad, same can be said for Shreveport.

    They're nice because the people are educated, employed, and tolerant of one another. NOLA is one of the most truly integrated cities anywhere. But you already summed up all that......they're democratic. (and independent)

    I was just reading on another site that the second season of the HBO's "Treme" airs April 24th. Anyone interested, that show will shed a little more of an accurate light on the city.
