Some things not to forget in training
I have a john boat at the kennel I found in the junkyard. I use it to teach the dogs about boats. At first I have them just get in with me. Sometimes they are reluctant and I have to toss a bird in the boat. After they are comfortable with getting in and out of the boat, I run a setup from the boat. I keep the marks close at first. These will save you a lot of headaches by trying to get a stubborn dog in the duck boat in the dark and when the boat is bouncing up and down in the water. See video clip of Sam. In his third month of the TRT program.

Another thing that I do is teach the dogs to leave the decoy alone. First I put them on a lead and walk them thru the decoys and telling them no when they try to pester the decoys. Then I put out a spread in the back yard and throw a bumper in the spread. This is Briley, third month in the TRT program.

What are some of the things you do that aren't on the video training programs?
