True enough, the church had the excuse of not having any evidence or wanting to believe the evidence it was presented. A stain on their history for sure. What is your excuse for considering or featuring yourself as a moderate? Have you considered those you call extreme right wingers may, in reality be the middle of the roaders and you are a left wing radical extremist?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Are you setting yourself as the Prefect of Orthodoxy here , Subroc?

When someone who virtually toes the line on political positions of liberal democrats and their party, is a staunch defender of that political party and left wing positions, nothing in the issues they choose to take a position on illustrates they are anything other than lackeys for that political party and spends time indicting the other political party at every opportunity how silly it appears when they claim they are anything other than a left wing democrat.

I am not in favour for corporate welfare, esp the oil companies. Is that left, middle or right in your view?
I am in favour of of the wealthy paying higher taxes which the majority of Americans do.
I do admire some liberal thinkers and their liberal works; such as John Adams, James Madison, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
I am in favour of medicaid and social security which over 75% of Americans favour as well. Does that make me and the great majority of Americans left or moderate?
Or does dismantling a long standing social program which the overwhelming population of this country favours a radical right wing agenda and out of touch with main stream America?
What its prominence suggest, and what all science confirms is that the dog is a creature of the nose- A. Horowitz.
I would say you are a liberal by any measure.
I am in favor of fair taxation at all levels. I am in favor of everything in the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights although I routinely find myself at odds with left wing interpretations of what the words say. The lefts interpretation of the second amendment comes to mind.
I love Social Security and Medicare. A very good deal for some. I am a realist who understands the model is not sustainable. It doesn't rob from the rich and give to the poor (like your point about taxing the rich) it robs from anyone that can pay and gives to those that can't and WON'T. The refusal to review the sustainability of SS is criminal. Former president Bill Clinton and George W. Bush both attempted, at some level, to fix it or at least modify it so it could last a little longer, but to no avail. Thanks in large part to the fear mongering that is a mainstay of the left wing media.
Speaking of the "overwhelming population" if you asked the average person if they would like something for nothing, how do you expect they would answer?
It is OK to be a liberal. It is OK to be a conservative. It is OK to be a radical left wing or right wing extremist. He11, it is even OK to lie to yourself and others about where you stand politically. Just expect to be called on it when evidence appears to the contrary.

On that thread posted by Roger about the POTUS getting an AP approval rating of 60%, when asked to rate himself on a scale of 100 that i'd stipulated where Dems, Indys and Republicans were arbitrarily placed, he gave us this evaluation:
"Well with you being a self proclaimed tea partier, I would give you a 98 me on the other hand being a former Republican Party member and now an Independent I would give myself a 60.I used to like what the Republican party stood for. Bush 43 was the first Republican President i did not vote for. There was something i did not like about the man and it turned out I was right. He turned out to be the worst President in U.S. history."
Like so many liberal/socialists, they can't even be honest with themselves. Their life is such a lie, they don't have a clue where square one is anymore. It must be painfully pathetic to live in such a funk.
