Default Right to Self Defense - PA

Gov. Tom Corbett signed the Castle Doctrine legislation into law earlier this week. It will allow law-abiding citizens to use force, including deadly force, as self-defense against an attacker or intruder without a duty to retreat first. It also offers protection against civil liability for the lawful use of force in self-defense. The new law will not apply if the person entering the home is another resident of the home, a law enforcement officer or is a parent, grandparent or other guardian removing a child from the home or vehicle. It also does not apply if a person is using his or her home or vehicle to further criminal activity.
This came from an email from my Congressman, so this is the only quote I have for you.

This law seems to actually make sense. Quite a novelty.

That is a novel approach! Logical too! Who'da thunk?

Florida has had the no retreat clause in the Castle Doctrine for years now. The Brady bunch posted billboards all over the state warning tourist that we would shoot them just for sport.....
Glad to see others are following suite. Our state has preemption, meaning that local governments cannot pass ANY gun Laws, the state has complete authority in regard to gun laws. Many local gooberments still thought they could post parks, beaches, and anything else they thought needed guns kept out. Many lawsuits over these and all were won by the gun folks, but there was no recourse against the officials who blatantly violated state law. As of yesterday, local officials responsible for violating the state law and making their own gun ordinances will be fined a far amount of $$$ for doing so. All of the no gun county signs were removed in my county a couple of months ago when the bill passed!

Of course we do. Don't you know if someone is trying to kill you and you throw a punch before you turn and run that you are as guilty as the guy trying to kill you. That what I love about our lawmakers. they are so smart., and logical. I can't believe they only earn millions .

May sound silly, but this is a big deal, particularly for Pennsylvania. I have CC'd since I was able, and this cloud has always hung over the heads of many pennsylvanians. The simple fact of having to worry about the god forbid chance of having to defend myself with deadly force, and being sued over it, is now gone. Thank you Tom Corbett.

Congratulations, The Castle doctrine is a much appreciated law in my state as well.
When it stops being fun, I will find something else to do with my time and money.

Not in my state either,,, But PA is extremely socialistic in nature.
