Slobber at the drinking bowl!!

I have a 4 month old black lab male and he has a drinking problem!! ha . Now I know that with a large breed dog it's just going to be a part of life but was wondering if there were any specific tips to reduce the amount of water that goes all over the place. He likes to sneak up on me when I'm laying on the couch and gets water all over my arm, the couch, the blanket, everywhere!!

I am going to try and elevate his bowls and see if that helps because I've also noticed him getting the hiccups many times before and he has vomited his food back up once or twice now. I attribute that to eating too fast and I'm working on that.

What have you guys done to try to reduce the amount of given slobber??

Slobber has always just happened with my lab (and other big dogs in the past). Raising the bowls will help with hiccups by far, but the only thing I've found that works on fast / too much drinking is standing with my dog at her bowl and telling her to take a break every so often.

If its a food problem, there's some big heavy metal ball you can drop in the dish that the dog will have to push to get to more food, but you could always just give a little bit of food at a time. Dont know if all that's worth it.

She's notorious for hacking up a puddle of water she drank too fast onto our floors / carpets. Wife loves her for that.....

It really sucks when they set you up and almost cause you to bust your rear end by leaving water land minds on the bathroom tile!! YIKES!

I’d recommend you get the metal breakfast bowl, it will last for years. The plastic one I bought lasted about one year. I now have two metal breakfast bowls and they do work.
