Joe Biden collects rent from the Secret Service for the cottage they occupy on his property.

The cottage had been occupied by his mother before she died.

It's reasonable to expect that if the SS agents didn't stay there, they'd have to pay rent elsewhere (which they did until this past April). It appears the cottage has not been rented since Joe's mother died. So, the cottage is more convenient for them. It's also reasonable that they should pay for their own utilities for the Biden cottage while they occupy it. But, really! Couldn't there be a "token" amount of rent for the cottage, in the spirit of how other Americans are being asked to "sacrifice"?

For those who think "the rich" don't pay their fair share of stuff, the Bidens aren't exact hurtin' financially, so wouldn't it be fair to ask Biden to let the SS have the use of the cottage for $1 + costs of maintenance? (for the cottage & its area, not the whole property!)

It's only $2200/mo (cheap by govt standards), but it would seem fair that if a "public servant" gets SS protection, they should be willing to forego "rent" for the presence of the protectors.

While we're at it, doesn't the SS also pay the Clintons for being on their property?
