Another blow to jobs in the Midwest
Today West Central Illinois got 2 more hits to their economy.
It was announced that the local ADM plant was being closed. Although the loss of 31 jobs is not huge, it means greatly increased costs for farmers selling their soy beans. Over the last years, we have lost one company after another including Gale Products and Maytag.
The second hit was even more amazing. The justice department levied a very large fine against Farmland Foods. Their infraction? They required too much documentation for workers who were immigrants. They asked for confirmation of documents produced by prospective employees.
Maybe Eric thought they should have hired some black panthers instead of wetbacks??
"Damned if you do and damned if you don't." Government "mules" just sit around and think up stuff like this to justfy their employment. I have a very distant relative by marriage ( we share genealogy stuff ) who is a smart cookie who used to work for the government.........she says the "know nothing, do nothing" workers get to climb the ladder because nobody wants them around. It is much easier to send them on than to fire them. Very, very difficult to fire one.
