How much do you charge folk for a day of training on your property?

How much are you charged and what do you get in return?
Firm place to park your truck, locked gate to play behind, mowed grounds.... that kind of stuff???

Ken, There are two places I go, and each one charges 10 dollar's per dog per day of training. They are open when there are no hunt tests scheduled. But what is cool is you can go out and train the last Hunt Test set up you saw on the same grounds. Both have good water and land.

At a 2800 acre farm/ranch near Stillwater MN, an annual training pass is $250.00.

This is a working cattle operation so the fields are usually kept grazed and workable. Cow pies to deal with. Natural ponds, no tech water, but a couple of nice stock ponds and irregular shaped ponds to work with.

You are supposed to sign in and have to have your pass on you. Thousands of dogs have trainied and trialed on these grounds over the years.

The place I go asks for $10 per handler. We leave the money in a box in the barn.

I schedule in advance, one location is pretty much honor system, send a check in the mail whenever I visit 5 times or so. The other location I check in at the grounds and pay them when I arrive (they are around to do that). Both locations require that I sign a safety waiver. Hope this helps.

I train a lot at the Cooper Black field trial grounds in Cheraw SC. They have areas with land and ponds that you can reserve. If you reserve them, it is $20 per half day and $40 per day and you get that area to yourself. You can train on areas that are not reserved for free. A couple of the areas have very good land but no water and they are usually open for free. To get the water on the weekends you usually have to reserve. During the time when the snowbirds are down it can be tougher to get on--especially during the week, but other times of year it is pretty open except for when a FT or HT is being held.

The place I train most often is $10 for the first dog, $5 for additional dogs. There is a sign in sheet and box to drop the money into as you enter the property. You can also purchase a season pass for $300. Easy access to fields and ponds via roads and ATV use makes it even easier. First come, first serve on training areas but there are 8 ponds and plenty of land to train on so it's not usually an issue. If you want a specific pond or area, get there early.

Three Clubs I am a life member. Club number 1 you can come as a guest twice then you join with a 100 member cut-off and are put on a waiting list ,we put on field trial and one hunt test a year. We share with Spaniels and Pointers. Club #2 No guests you pay $100. for a few training days or you join, two trials a year, two hunt tests and a OH Qual with a hunt test. Club #3 guests twice then you join two trials, two hunt tests a year. #2 and #3 are open memberships. More productive to join and get ample time for work hours to cut down expenses for membership and yes we are lucky here in the Mid-West to have such grounds owned by the Three Clubs. All three clubs have club houses and two have bird pens for members to use birds along with freezers etc for dead birds. Allowance days are made for Pros days and Amateur days during the week. Pros can purchase a Membership with #2 and #3. No Pros , except thier own dogs on #1.
