We've near record highs since March, and its only getting worse, water temps are up to where the dog is hot to the touch when coming back from water work.I keep an industrial fan on the dogs during the heat of the day or bring them in if I cant work them that day.I think the heat is harder on them if they are in the AC all day then took outside to train.
We are running 115. Transformer blew yesterday we were without power for 6 hours we took dog and drove around for 3 hours finally got power at 9 last night
No training being done here. Even early in the morning, the heat & humidity are horrible. Just not willing to take a chance with the dogs. We're suppose to get a break in the high temps over the weekend. I've got ceiling fans and 3 large barrel fans running in the kennel. The dogs are going out to air and wanting back into the kennel as soon as they finish.
Sure hope this isn't a sign of what to expect in the next few coming months
Ya'll need to come out to the NW.Todays report from NOAA: Today: Rain, mainly after 11am. High near 65. West wind between 3 and 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Going training in about an hour.
Gonna be near to 100 here for the next week. Trap goes out before work for his walk and some fun retrieves and again at dark.
He has become quite the good dog.we leave him in the house all day now and he has had no accidents. Last Saturday, he did get the white direct tv remote, but his bumpers are long and white too, so i could say anything. Other than that my boy is gonna stay in a/c comfort.
Best wish's to you all.
This is why i wanted a yellow lab. The sun is brutal here, and i feel a black heats up too much.
The garden is doing well tho. Thanks to irrigation water from the ditch. Now if i can just keep the crayfish from plugging up my hose.
That's why we went with yellows . It's 110 and half the day my yellow lab is laying in the sun, he started doing this as he got older. My blacks wouldnt go out all day.
My hubby and I have grown tired of the miserable heat and humidity in Iowa...not to mention the days of below zero in the winter. Tired of being held hostage in our house for weeks on end with the heat index.
That's why we just made an offer on some land in Eastern WA!! Will be spending summers there until we can build.
Smokin' hot here today. Got all the way up to 86. Down to 82 now though
I'm sure you know this but you don't want to be here in the winter if you're tired of cold winters. And summer lasts about 8 weeks. Been cool and rainy up until a week ago. Other than that, it's great!
Chewelah. cool and rainy beats 90 with a heat index of 102.
Hubby loves to ski, so snow is a good thing. Your average lows are substantially warmer than ours too! If it gets too bad, we can always load up the travel trailer and head south.
mwk56,
I'm in envy, you're gonna love Chewelah, what a great place.
So, you have any plans for a bunkhouse, I'm really good at throwing birds.
Westsider....... LOL
A few fun bumpers in the AM and PM and that's about it. Lake temp already 78. Fans blowing at high speed and misters misting. I can't imagine why Angie(Grangie?) leaves all this and goes to Michigan every year.
Highs are hovering just under 100 here, dry, and I can't remember when we had rain. Severe drought cycle going on right now, and the fires in CO have been making the national news. It is, however, still cool in the morning. We head out early for some drills and swimming, but we're keeping it short and simple. Lots of napping in the AC in the house for all of us. Hoping we don't run low on irrigation water this year, the reservoir is scary. I am SO grateful we put in a geothermal system 2 years ago; before that, we didn't have AC. We would have been pretty uncomfortable this year without it.
Over 110 last three days!! Only 108 today through Friday supposed to be under 100 on Saturday. Luckily thus far it is cooling down to mid 70's at night!! Good news in KS we always have wind so dogs in Kennel with shade and misters on are pretty cool compared to no wind and no misters.
got out to the dog beach on Lake Michigan in Two Rivers, WI this past weekend. was hoping for warmer weather but only got up to 65 deg along the lake shore. threw some fun bumpers and I cautiously entered the freezing lake myself to teach the pup to swim better. he started to get it but I was freezing my arse off and a storm was rolling in so we called it a day. The pup had a blast and was wore out when we got home so it was worth it!
sorry for you heat but enjoying the cool WI weather regards
High 96 in NE Oklahoma Saturday and we trained from about 7am-5pm now that was 14 different dogs and we did a variety of set ups but dogs handled it well. I was spent after the day.
Definately hot in the tulsa area. Doing some ob and force to pile, 3 handed casting work after sunset along with early mornng walks. Highs in the low 100's all week. Dogs are hanging out in shaded kennels with the mister going and industrial fan keeping the air moving.
106 in the shade a few minutes ago. Took the knucklehead out about 7:45 this morn and did 8 quick Retrieve R Trainer shots and then came home. Left him home in the AC while I tramped around a pasture where we have a dozer doing some habitat manipulation. Yesterday took him out at 7:50PM and it was still 100!!! Did 5 R-R-T shots, then hosed him down and gave him his monthly bath. Two of his favorite things so he was a happy pup, grinned all the way home. Supposed to be 102 on the coast tomorrow so may be 110 or so here (Yikes!!)
109 here today. Sad when 93 is considered a cool down. May have to wear a jacket!
