Yes Mike it's a scary thought. As much for me as it is for you. Much hangs in the balance these days.

Here's another scary thought for you.

In this small microcosm of RTF PP, conservative values are reflected mostly by a small handful of conservatives.

Opposing viewpoints are reflected by an even more miniscule number.

Do we here on PP trully reflect the greater whole?

Not even close...if anything PP represents both extremes....very few in the middle, but then again I have been called a RINO, an idiot,and a nut job...once from the right, two from the left...YMMV

Actually, I think most of us consider ourselves in the middle.(and that's the trully scary part). Even Bill S. rankeled at being called conservative...?

You bring up an interesting hypothesis....if we were to put a numerical scale from 1-10 with 1 being the most liberal and 10 being the most conservative, how would each of us score ourselves

for example: my personal scores on a very non scientific average

1. death penalty : 10

2. abortion : 9

3. gay marriage : 6

4. immigration : 9

5. legalizing MJ : 5

6. gun control : 10

7. end the Fed : 8

8. balanced budget : 9

9. ending foreign aid : 7

10. ending entitlements : 10

11. ending affirmative action : 8

12. gays in the military : 9

13. women in combat : 9


my average is 8.384....but in reality I consider myself socially moderate except on the subjects of abortion and the death penalty...but for comparison, I would guess UB would rate in the 9.5 and higher range....and I would guess Buzz would be about 7.0 or lower,Sambo maybe lower than that ..all guesses based on their responses on certain subjects...YMMV

1. death penalty : 10 - while in favor of the penalty, there are too many declared innocent at a later date to believe the courts are doing their job

2. abortion : 9 - SD overturned the strict interpretation instituted by the Legislature - I believe the citizens got it right

3. gay marriage : 6 - another favored class of individuals, it needs to stop

4. immigration : 9 - my ancestors came here legally, everyone else should also

5. legalizing MJ : 5 - The crowd I hang with says "NO". I believe it is a LE failure.

6. gun control : 10 - read an article the other day where the 1st Amendment needs some scrutiny, too many reporters shooting from the hip

7. end the Fed : 8 - replace? with something that works - ZIRPed

8. balanced budget : 9 - someone needs to explain to me what this would accomplish with the crowd in power

9. ending foreign aid : 7 - There are times when having someone else fight your battle is the most cost effective

10. ending entitlements : 10 - What's an entitlement? Be specific

11. ending affirmative action : 8 - should have never started, not all who supposedly reaped the benefits, favored it. I wouldn't want the stigma of being a favored class.

12. gays in the military : 9 - would you want a queer guarding your back?

13. women in combat : 9 - in a position that is physical, any time people of lesser physical skill are included, standards go down

As with this forum, most of the folks here do not fit a classic mold, other than the SFN crowd that comes & goes.
