I've been using one for two years and will bet it lasts longer than I do!
I've put about 10,000 rounds through it ... that's an estimate but pretty darn close ... and nary a problem. I don't see what there is in it to break down, and nothing to lose on the ground.
A very simple, reliable tool at about half the price of most of the good pistols.

I use a .22 pistol and use .22 blanks in it. You can buy a pistol for about the same price as the starter pistols. this i have something that serves 2 purposes. I also buy the Ram-set blanks from the hardware store as they are much cheaper and easier to get. If this is not the route you want to take the Alpha pistol is the way to go. I have several people I train with that use them and I have never seen on fail.
Good luck

My favorite is my NEF... though if it ever dies, I'll have to do some serious research before buying another brand!

I have had a Aplha 209 for quite a few years and it has served me well. It broke down last year. In search of a repair shop I found out that they have changed thier warranty to lifetime even on previous purchases. Pitchford Custom Gunworks was were I sent it and it was nice and shiny when I got it back. Its been a great gun considering how many times I have shot it. I have had only one brand of primers, "Nobel Sport" that are tight in the cylinder . The dia. is a little over size.
A "real" .22 pistol is easier on the shooters ears than a blank pistol, it directs the sound away, out the end of the barrel. Real pistols are probably not legal in some places.
.22 blanks while not expensive in the quantity most people use are still about twice as much as .209 primers bought in big quantities.
Friends have used Alphas and they had the transfer bar break, more than once.
They cost more but, I think a .209 GunX is the best you can get.
