FF qestion

I have FF a few dogs but I have never ran in to this
im FF a 7mo chessie started hold with paint roller
then when I started forcing him I used a FF buck when he started realt
going good 12 days in to it two session a day I switched to a
1.5 inch white bumper. Problem is he wants to grab it at the end of the bummper
away from my hand not in the middle. I feel if I don't correct this it's going to promote
cigaring. What's your take on this.

maybe this is too easy a fix but- dont let him put it in his mouth wrong.
its still in your hand. you're in control. make it go in his mouth the right way.

I'd suggest what Blaine says, but if that's too complicated, go to Lowes and buy some 1 1/2" PVC reducers. Slide them onto the ends of the bumper. I did this with my dog and it worked wonders. If the dog develops a cigar habit, just keep them on the bumpers. It took a little bit, but mine started grabbing everything in the middle after that...with or without PVC.

I am in FF with my 7 mo ylf. She did this a few times and i immediately removed the bumper, commanded fetch again then made her hold in correctly. This eliminated the issue from hand but in transition to ground its snuck back...i will be trying the pvc ends for this i believe. Good responses.

I've done that before when it developed after FF
In past dogs. Just didn't thank of that thanks

This might be a dumb question but, did you teach the dog to where to hold the bumper? This could be wrong but i just move the bumper to the right spot in his mouth with a "good". helped me out.

I think you are worrying about something that really is not a issue. I have never seen a pup/dog that started out cigaring a bumper do it for any appreciable length of time.

MY lab staterted it to, and I just put some screws in end of one of my bumpers and it cleared it right up.

Yes we worked on hold. I thank Im just worried about it
