Terry Bradshaw not impressed by Drew Brees' TD record

Former Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw is not shy about ripping current quarterbacks.

In the past, Bradshaw has been critical of Ben Roethlisberger. On Thursday, Bradshaw turned his attention toward Drew Brees. Seems Bradshaw is not impressed that Brees now holds the NFL record for consecutive games with a touchdown pass (48).

Im not into records, fellas, Bradshaw told WFAN radio in New York. Im just into winning football games. The Saints hadnt won a game this season. Im not into records, Im into winning Super Bowls. We lose sight of why we play. We play to win and to win championships, not break records.

Bradshaw, a longtime analyst for FOX, also felt it was inappropriate for New Orleans coach Sean Payton to attend Sunday nights record-breaking game in which the Saints defeated the Chargers.

Count Terry Bradshaw among those not impressed with Drew Brees surpassing Johnny Unitas' consecutive games with a touchdown record. (AP Photo)

I was a little upset that he (Brees) went to the NFL to get Payton back to watch him break a record, Bradshaw said. Im like, 'Are you kidding me? I never would have gone and asked. I thought it was disrespectful to the San Diego Chargers.

So go ahead, break it. Youre throwing it 50 times a game.

    The game has changed...............

Awe, did you get your feelings hurt on the other thread and had to post this garbage?

I like Bradshaw but we all know he isn't the sharpest pencil in the stack. The Steelers, the greatest team in the Super Bowl era won 4 mostly with the Steel Curtain.

Bradshaw is an ass sometimes. If he holds any personal records, I'm sure he would not root for someone to beat it.

You mean the thread where YOU talked out of both sides of your mouth and stepped in your own BS?

I just think Bradshaw has credibility, after all, he has almost as many Super Bowl rings as New Orleans has suspended players and coaches for cheating!!!

Only if one has a problem with reading comprehension. You got exposed and thought you could get back at me by posting this trash. How mature!

BTW, Goodell entire case is based on a D coach's pre game talk and a disgruntled x-Quality Control Coach who swore revenge when he was given a cheapy SB ring. It will take time but, the truth will come out!

Bradshaw called his own plays every play of every game. Not the sharpest pencil in the drawer? He is smarter than any QB's playing today.

Plus, when Bradshaw played, the QB was actually part of the game. You could hit them without getting your hand slapped. No protection for the prima-donnas like today.

I hated Terry Bradshaw the QB because he beat my Cowboys...twice

I like TB the football commentator because he is brutally honest, he doesnt mince words and calls it like he sees it..

I like and admire Drew Brees as a QB and a person.....but the record is just a stat...if you throw it 50 times a game you had better be throwing at least one of them for a TD

Brees has NEVER averaged 50 passes per game in his career. Last season, the Saints set the record for most points and most yards by a team in a single season and they were 56% pass and 44% run! This season, he is throwing more playing catch up instead of blowing many teams out like they done in the SP era. But, still under 50 passes per game! When SP returns next season, I expect them to get back to a more balanced attack.

The record stood for 52 years and there have been some great QB's over that span of time! If it was such an easy record to break, then why 52 years? The game has changed since then in several ways. Back then, teams were only allowed 3 black players per team meaning there was much less talent on pass coverage. There were no Nickle and Dime Specialist in pass coverage. Johnny U is the greatest of all time and no one in their right mind would dispute that. He changed the game forever.

On a side note, the passing phenom known as Big Ben Rothlesburger passed Bradshaw's passing totals in 50 less games! Put the Steel Curtain Defense on any elite QB's team and see how many Championships they would ahve won!

I don't think it was easy to break.
I also (as stated) think the game has changed, a LOT!

I think Brees is very good, I don't think I put him in the league with Starr, Unitas, Bradshaw, Favre and Montana yet.
    Longevity and titles seperate them.

I also did not say anything on the Packers Saints thread because GB ain't nuthin' to write home about this year..........
But Rodgers & Brees face the same dilemma, poor lines.

They are the 2 best now, with some fine upcoming talent on their heels.

    BUT.....the GAME has CHANGED!!!

I remember when Sonny Jurgenson passed for 300 yds, it was almost sacreligious!!!!
