    True steadiness cannot be expected (fairly) unless you train with live birds. Steady with a thrown bumper or dead duck and steady with the real thing are 2 different animals.

    My dog is about a year and a half and I'm working on trying to get him steady for the upcoming duck season. When I go hunting I won't be doing any shooting I'll just sit with my dog to make sure he does right.
