Ducks by the numbers---looking for harvest data by state
Doing a short piece in a local hunting journal. I tried a few searches and came up empty. I recall reading that LA was number one, followed by AR, and CA. Does that sound right? Anyone have a link to some data? As I remember, the ratio between hunters and harvest was considerably larger in the first two. If that is correct, I have to thank all of the liberals here--more opportunity for me! Send a link if you can.

california is number 1 (120 day season) then louisiana then arkansas. arkansas is number 1 in mallard harvest.

Not really sure but SD does have a migration map and we are part of the prairie pot hole region, I am not sure about ND but as far as the US goes they normally have the greatest number of birds and the largest diversity of ducks in the US. maybe try www.gfp.sd.gov

We have had a "liberal Framework" 13 years in a row----Crazy! And each year the mallards have been a lil more scarce. It is all about hunter opportunity.

they set the season for the different flyways. mississippi flyway gets a 60 day season the pacific flyway gets 100 day season
arkansas has roughly 700,000 mallards harvested every year and 1.5 million ducks. no one comes close to the mallard harvest but it does look like california has taken a dip they are roughly tied with us for second in total ducks. Louisiana still has the lead.
