Allergies - Red Eyes and Leaking

I have a 9 year old female chocolate lab that has always had a very shiney coat. This spring she develloped crusty eyes and itchy ears and it has lasted through the summer and she still suffers from this. The whites of her eys are pink and she constantly has goo leaking from her eyes. her coat is not as pretty as normal and not as thick. My vet said that it could be allergies. Anyone have any thoughts?

What is her diet like? Do you give any supplements at all? Just wondering if MSM would help-- sure helped my allergies over the years.

Have You planted any new landscape bushes or shrubs near your home this spring? I seem to recall someone on here once stating that their dogs developed severe allergies to the yews they planted in their landscaping around their home! Once they removed the bushes the dog was much better.
