Julie R. has been a tremendous resource for me and I would enthusiastically recomend Hope Springs Chesapeakes. She was not technically the breeder of my dog (owns the sire) but she referred me to the litter when hers did not happen as planned. We've kept in touch along the way and if it wasn't for her I'm not sure I would have gotten into the dog games. If there's a more knowledgeable Chesapeake person out there I haven't met them.

Close to Southern PA and Maryland there are many Chesapeake owners that have Bred a litter. Breeding a litter= being a breeder- yes, no, maybe so.
Not knowing your exact location and distance you want to be located from the breeder you choose, take up Pat Puwal on her offer, chat with her to narrow down what you are looking for.
The Shaws in New Jersey, as stated by others, might be a great place to start, I know that is not PA or MD. Jersey is closer than you think.

You can not go wrong with Pond Hollow. I currently have a 4 year old female from Dyane and she earned her Master Hunter at age 3. She is a great family and hunting dog. If you want to drive a little further check out Treasure Lake Chesapeakes. I have a 1 year old JH pup from Kathy.

Ottercreek chessies are located in Edgewood Maryland. I have a female from them, she is a VERY high drive bitch. I had her flown to me so have not met Gary or Dawn in person but they have been greatly helpful with any questions I have ever had with her.
