There is a book written about it.
It is a great read, though some of the subject matter is sad, some of the stories of survival are awesome!

Strong storms around Veteran's Day are typically the first big push of ducks around here. We had one this year, but a small one by comparison. On 1 Nov '91 there was a big storm, a little earlier than usual. I drove along the Mississippi to LaCrosse that day in heavy rain that turned to very heavy snow mid-afternoon - about a foot in an hour around 3:00. A few duck hunters died on the Mississippi with the fast change and a Golden was found the next day riding on top of a capsized boat. But what sticks out about that one was a former grad student at the U of Iowa, disgruntled about his career, killed a bunch of people on campus.
