Anyone from the Aberdeen/Ipswich, SD area have any good advice to share regarding best places to hunt next week? We have two days booked on private land and were hoping to find some great areas to hunt for three more days. We will be hunting Monday through Friday, December 3rd to 7th. Anyone else from or in the area would be welcome to join us if available.
Any other advice on the area that would be helpful to know ahead of time would be most appreciated.
Have people posting! when you first get to the field drop off your posters to their spots and then drive to your parking location and don't slam the doors! The majority of the birds are very flighty right now. That being said there will be quite a few that hold very tight so work the dogs slowly I don't know how many times guys want to walk fast because all the birds ar jumping up at the end of the field and then birds hop up behind them. Walk slowly let the dogs work and have posters.
The birds have been sitting in a lot of cat tails lately so bring your chaps I prefer the ll bean waxy ones they keep your pants dry, and water proof boots we are seeing 20 degree days round here now. So bring warm clothes and good gloves.
There are a lot of birds around that area but they will make you work to get them, good luck
