Bill Hillmann *Basics* DVD Now Available!

$149 - http://www.hawkeyemedia.net/fundamentals.html

I definitely plan on getting it as soon as it's available. Bill’s other programs are too good to not have everything else he produces.

As always too it wouldn’t be possible without Mrs. Mary! :p Thanks!

E-mail sent from the site;
It has been a while since I sent out a note on what has been happening here.

We've been really busy; primarily because
for the past 2 years - we've been filming and putting
together the new video on Basic Training or Fundamentals.
It's now finished. . .. . and should be available soon. . .
maybe in as little as 3 weeks (Just depends on printing time)
But what are Fundamentals? Since I finished filming I have
been thinking more about fundamentals as I view the
subject. .. .for me it's really a time when you develop the way
a dog is. ... From the time you first start training a puppy
and on thru basic training, you are molding what the
dog will be like.

What could be more important?
Essentially, the process of training, not just commands and
concepts, is the procedure of creating attitudes like courage,
enthusiasm, dedication, passion for work etc. So, because of
this, I pay very close attention to making sure that the dog,
as he goes thru this development, thinks and believes that
retrieving is a wonderful game, and that it is fun.
To summarize, Fundamentals are far more than the Basic Skills.
It is during this time that the dog develops and how he becomes
the dog that you want him to be.
Anyway, the project is on the way. I'll let you know
in a week or two the exact date.

You don't have to buy anything to sign onto his website/blog. You will receive notices like this, training discussion and video clips. If I were to start another pup, I would be using this stuff all the way!

I've had the opportunity to check out his fetch command and liked how he presents his information and how he shows a puppy going through it versus a dog that has already been taught.

I watched Lardy's TRT disk 1 today and was not nearly as impressed granted I only train my dogs for hunting. I found there wasn't much detail but I've got the articles on order so I'm guessing that will provide more support.

Can't wait for the basics video.

In using TRT myself I found that until you had read the materials and watched the accompanying video at least 5 times I had no idea just how much was actually going on in the sessions. I'm still seeing new stuff as I read through it.

Update....

Greetings,
Well, sometimes things work out better than you
think they're going to.

The new basic training video has been shipped

to us from the replication company and will be

in Caldwell, Texas on Tuesday December 11th.

This is the land portion of basic training and
it is a documentary about going through the
training steps from start to finish.
This is not a lecture on how to teach each part
but the actual training of specific dogs.
I'm showing, on this DVD, that I believe it is possible
to increase desire and mold character while teaching
a dog to learn the skills needed to go forward
as a complete retriever. So, I've demonstrated
how to teach the concepts and skills while building
desire and confidence. This DVD will concentrate on land.
The water fundamentals are already filmed and we are
working on getting them out as soon as we can,
but at least we have the land section ready now.
Please check out www.hawkeyemedia.net for more info.
Thanks a lot and keep me posted,

hey bud you seem very good when it comes to hillmann's material. I'm looking to use his stuff for my pup, I'm new to training and I was going to do the puppy dvd as well as the fundamentals and fetch command dvd. I've read that when you get to day 22 in the puppy dvd to use the fetch dvd in place. in which order would you train the dvds? thanks

I just received the Basic's DVD yesterday and had the chance to watch a little bit of it. I really liked it and seem to really like how Bill presents the material and seems to make it enjoyable on the dog. I certainly like the way the dogs seem to react to his pressure and seem to love to enjoy doing the work. another great video. I am going to follow his process from start to finish with my new pup coming in the next couple months. We'll see how it goes. I've still got a few more of the TRT videos to watch but seem to enjoy watching Bill's DVD's more. I'm sure I would be happy following either program.

I certainly would highly recommend his videos if there are folks out there looking.
