Today is a very special day in our family, it is my Mom's 100th Birthday...she is alive and still hanging in there while living in a nursing home in Durango Colorado...although she is currently afflicted by Alzheimers/dementia she has survived WW II in th Philippines, 10 kids,13 grand children, and 5 great grand children....her doctors are still scratching her head as to how she defies modern medicine..

We tried to get her name and picture on the Today Show with Willard Scott but were told we did not submit the application six weeks in advance...really...at 100 years who plans events six weeks in advance...

among the many cards she received was one from Lanse Brown with a new $100 bill attached :D

for those of you fortunate enough to have your mom still with us, give her a call, or send her a letter and tell her how special she is to you...cherish every single day you have with her...I know that I do

Wow! That's very neat - a whole century..... My family has dealt with Alzheimers on both sides - both of my grandmothers, so I understand what a miracle it is that she made it to her 100th birthday!
Her picture might not have made it on the Today Show, but I don't think there's a deadline on RTF - SOOOOOO, post it up Bon!! We want to see this great lady!

She put up with both you and Clint, plus all your brothers and sisters. She has to be one tough lady.

That is wonderful. Say Happy Birthday to your Mom, Bon. My father almost made it. He passed this last Sep 29 just 41 days before his 100th birthday. Would have liked to see him make it but after his fall breaking 5 ribs and fracturing his hip, he made the decision to let himself go. He lived for just 7 days after his fall. Up to that point, he was still driving, taking Tai Chi classes and living fully independently. He couldn't see losing his independence.
