Thread: Dead Tail??

  1. #1

    Default Dead Tail??

So noticed my BLM seemed to be holding his tail funny this morning, seemed a bit anxious, maybe a little pain. Researched the web and it seems it may be dead tail. Anyone have any experience with this? causes? cures? etc...Thanks

My lab gets it every year so I dont like to hunt him when the water temp drops, I had him out the other day hunting duck while most it was running water he only had minor exposure to swimming water and it was enough for him to get it, so hes done for the year. It can be very painfull, Rimadyl is what my vet gave him when he first got it.

Never had a dog that was prone to this condition.

Carolina, my dog has had it since Thursday. I haven't given him anything for it but it seemed his worst pain was the first 8 hours. He appears to be getting a little better each day. If I don't see more improvement by Wednesday I will take him to the vet. Hope your pup gets better soon! Keep us updated.

My dog had this once also. For a dog that wags his tale ALL the time, it sure looked funny just hanging there limp. After a couple days, he was back to his tail-wagging self. Hope your dog will too.
