Default Pink coolant for cars? Dangerous?

I havnt been in the mechanic buisness for years, about the time it came out. So I dont remember. Was thinking it was safe, but still keep her out of it.
I have a puddle in my drive where I park, that never dries up, and realized my dog was drinking it at times, then finally noticed my truck was leaking

Are you talking about anti freeze/ radiator coolant? Its very dangerous. It has a sweet taste so cats , dogs like it, it can kill them if they drink it or even lick it off their paws.

The old anti freeze was ethylene glycol (sp) very toxic to pets and humans.

The pink anti freeze is propylene glycol. less toxic (non toxic)

It took very little "green" anti freeze to kill a dog.

It would take substantualy more "pink" anti freeze to do the same.

Bottom line don't let your dog drink it but, don't panic if he/she licks it off the garage floor.

    Retried technician regards.

P.S. Maybe one of our DVM's will chime in on the amounts of each it takes to do damage to our dogs.

Yes, talking about anti freeze. I just discovered this, and stop them when they drink it, but thought the pink coolant was kinda of safe? Will fix my truck this week

Orange, pink, Just not green!!!! Green is Ethylene VERY BAD for pets and humans.

The other colors are Propylene (mostly safe)

The different colors were coded by the manufactures to designate their OEM anti freeze. ie. GM , Ford, Mopar, etc.stc.

A radio show was talking about this and how dangerous it is, but they didn't say anything about the color. Thanks for the info my daughter walks her dogs through her apt complex and I'm always worried they will step in something bad.

The automotive industry hasn't used ethylene glycol since 1996 or 1997. That t is the GREEN anti freeze.
