Where do we go without great leaders for the defense of our liberties? Who will defend our right to live our lives _as we chose_ without others taking that from us? The answer is, as it should be, no one. We are the defense of our rights and should always remember that. Libertarian blogger

I miss that good Bama soul food!

Before I left for the office this morning I took the Corned Beef our of the freezer to defrost. I'll cook it with cabbage, carrots, onions and potatoes. For a side dish, I'll have black eyed peas over brown popcorn rice. If I still lived in New Orleans, I'd be heading for the Fairgrounds Racetrack, eating the same thing and betting on the ponies.

I had thought of cooking a Speckledbellie gumbo (white-fronted geese) but opted for a more tradional New Years meal.

    Bon apetit y'all.

It is the dish they are known for. When I worked in the city, I would go there once a week, usually on Fridays for lunch. I'd have a plate full of corned beef and cabbage with an iced cold Dixie and bet the first two races.
