Color Testing??

Hah funny... thinking the same.. but can I know for sure without doing the testing? Am I wasting my time & money?

There's virtually zero chance he carries Choco, so forget testing the b locus.

There's a slight chance that he carries yellow. You can either test the e locus, or you can breed him to a yellow, and see what comes out.
If he carries yellow, each pup has a 50/50 shot of being yellow.

And BTW, there is NOTHING wrong with black.

All Labs secretly want to be black. I can prove it.

Ok, thanks. I will take your advice and just do the e locus. I have to order the CNM anyway. He is CNM clear by parentage, but would like him officially tested and recorded.

If you want your dog on the CNM white list you need to go to the CNM project and send it to France, if you just want the result published you submit genetic test results along with application and $15 fee and it will show up on the site and they will have an official OFA CNM number. Clear By Parentage is only good for one generation so if your dog is Clear By Parentage you can not be sure that their pups will be clear because of spontaneous mutations of genes which is how the disorder gets into the gene pool to begin with,

If you color test the dog DDC is cheaper than Vetgen and faster as well. 10 day max turnaround. First test is $58 and the second(on the same sample/dog) is $20. DDC is the largest DNA testing company in the world. Same link as above:vetdnacenter.com/canine-dna-coat-color.html I have used them several times with no issues. $10 discount to $48 base fee for 5 dogs or more.

Yes, I did use the CNM Project. After my friend Myra reminded me about the test being done in France. Kit came in a few short days from WI... website: http://www.labradorcnm.com/pages/site/0-frame_site.html Awaiting results, swabbed by Vet and mailed this past Thursday.

Thanks for the info, but too late for me. I used Vet Gen. Kit came in 2 days from Michigan. I believe the E Locus test was $55. Ten was swabbed by Vet and it was sent this past Thursday. We shall see.

Yeah!!.... Ten's CNM test results are back.

He is CNM Clear LR-CNM13-049-M-PIV He's already been added to the CNM Official White-List. http://www.labradorcnm.com

The certificate reads:
