    Default Building a Retriever - just got my copy and LOVE it!!!!

    Thank you Carol Cassity for putting this book of drills and info together.

    For anyone fairly new or intermediate to training and following a program like Lardy or Graham or Hillman etc. This book helps fill in a ton of gaps. I'm following Lardy, but was kind of at a loss for what kind of marking scenarios to set up to help train my girl to run longer and more challenging marks. This book not only gives you lots of options for that, it tells you about drills for training dog to run into and through higher cover or over obstacles on way to mark.

    The first drill in the book is one called the Holding Blind Drill. Did this the last two days and it works like a charm.

    It has a well drawn diagram for each drill and lots of explanation for each one.
    I found out about this book on RTF and am so glad I finally ordered it. FIVE STARS!!!

    Thanks for posting. Went online to check it out and ended up ordering a copy. Since I was already on gun dog supply thought I would look around. Also had a sale on bumpers so their are 30 of those coming and some misc. Other things. Gotta love free shipping on orders over 125.00 . I just got to stay off the internet

    I wish I would of say this post a couple of days ago. I had just ordered over $125 worth of stuff on Sunday so I had to pay shipping on the book but I think it will be worth it. Really looking forward to checking it out.

    One of the things I really like about Carol's book is she addresses the "what if" the dog does something wrong, and how to fix it. So when you are running the drill, if the dog doesn't do exactly what he was supposed to do (not that THAT ever happens, right?), she tells you what to do rather than leaving you wondering where to go from here.

    My lab loves that manual - she ate part of it. LOL

    Now I have two copies. The one with all the pages stays in the truck, the other stays in the house away from labby's mouth.
