I hope this is acceptable to post here. It is a non-political event. The NRA is not involved.

Oh, but is political. Potus!
Going to gun stores, gun shows, and gun ranges is "political?"
Just like going to Chick-fil-A to buy sandwiches on their appreciation day was "political?"
I don't see it.
I was a lobbyist for the state Rifle Association. We organized lobbying days, marches on the state capitol, stacking witnesses for congressional committee hearings. THOSE are political! But visiting a gun store? Sorry, I don't see it.

It isnt political at all in my opinion.
Guns are part of American culture. They are a tool, just like a hammer, or scredriver.
The attitudes like the one above, that want some of american culture pushed into a backroom,, is offensive to me..
Many other groups want Americans to respect Their culture,, but then in the next breath, want laws and activities that many in our society hold legally dear to their heart,, become contriban.
Its time to stand up and address this mentality...
A Picture of a very dear "politicle" memory of mine
Concealed carry class the 16th,, something to carry the 19th,, along with 100 lbs of lead shot..regards.

I just may have to attend this, thanks for sharing
I may be in the minority on this, but I think it has nothing but downside.
We know we are all responsible with our guns. We have our traditions, we respect the guns and others we know share the same values right to keep and bear, blah, blah, blah...
BUT, the danger that someone who isn't from that background does or says something stupid that gets repeated around the the clock for two days of television coverage and overshadows anything good about having this event is just more ammo for the antis out there.
I saw a clip of the guy ranting and raving on Piers Morgan last week. That's the kind of downside having this "Appreciation Day" that I'm worried about.
Classic pessimism. It is a logical fallacy, you can't make your choices based on what "might" happen. You might as well live in a cave and never come out because a meteor "might" fall on your head.
You set realistic goals and go for them. Taking what precautions ahead of time you deem necessary. But you don't just not try because of what "might" happen.
