I have read that doing to many may cause buggining problems, same with doing multiple marks.
How do yall train with poison birds, and how often. My dogs are already buggy.

If you give them too many with out picking it up first they will get to ignoring it and that will cause a problem with regular marks ...they will be expecting to run a blind and not pay close attention on the marks..If your dog has mastered them then a maintenance schedule of one a week or every other week will usually do...It depends on the dog and their retention limit...If you are having a problem with them in the field I suggest you set up a drill directed to teaching it..They should become comfortable with it and relax ....Can you add some more info on what you call , buggy...You may just have a dog that need to be under better control at the line...Steve S

Dogs are steady at the line, just swings the head looking for marks at the gunners. Senior Hunter, one HRCH pass. Mostly always run singles. Think its mostly lack of training the past few months.
Your scenorio happend today. Couldnt find the mark.
I ran a single, then had another, called dog off of mark and sent on blind, before sent to memory bird then sent for memory bird, and dog got lost.
Again we havent trained in a few months, because of work, but had trouble before also.
Thanks, Brad

They are first introduced on known blinds. True poison bird blinds I do about twice/ month as part of a KRD. Only 1 out of the 3-4 marks will be a poison bird. I always pick-up the mark in training. I figure I can always leave the line in a trail after the blind so I might as well get some memory after a handle practice.

You order a Lab; ask a Golden; but negotiate with a Chesapeake!
Maybe TX folks could chime in as to the prevalence of poison birds in their area.
